Notes and photos from nearly two weeks on the road.
How do you improve on a drive from Vancouver, Washington to Seattle? Play a round of disc golf between, of course. And why not tack a Hold Steady show to the end? Exactly; that’s what we thought.
8a wake. slow morning. no rush and leisure departure is great.
11.25a car packed, about ready to take off.
Oregon being all full-service as far as gas is concerned bodes well for my retirement. if we still use gas or have cars. which would suck.
1p Subway for lunch. so much camo and elderly. and old people in camo.
SIGN: LITTER AND IT WILL HURT. feel like I could use some elaboration there.
2.50p: stopping outside of seattle for some disc golf.
5.30p Finished a round w/ a score too high to record, but stopped counting after 4 holes. about to head to Seattle.
We were going to take a second night on the coast before getting into Seattle. Instead, we spent another night in Vancouver and made our way up from there. Rural Washington reminds me of rural everywhere-else.
I’m still wondering what’s meant by “and it will hurt” on that sign. Seems like an abstract threat, like, “I’m going to put tacks in your cereal—in two years.”
1.30a: The HOLD STEADY rocked the Crocodile Café. DJ Lord was solid. The show was long though and the much-overdue food (pizza) @ Tribunali was delicious. back @ Nick’s and hoping for some good rest.
We worried that Hold Steady would be covering someone else (probably the Boss) but the set was great. The happy hour at Via Tribunali is pretty great. For about $8, we each had a margherita pizza and a Peroni.
