Notes and photos from nearly two weeks on the road.
Day five was our first drive toward a metropolitan center. We spent nearly the entire day on I84 headed west. It wasn’t very exciting.
8a start breaking everything down. long drive today up 84.
9a leaving campground.
coyote crosses the road. wildlife seen, an incomplete list:
coyote, antelope, deer, elk, bison, cows, [along side] horses, sheep, chipmunks, squirrels, lamma? [lama]
stretched the definition of “wildlife” there.
1p After a possibly-ill-advised stop @ Sierra Trading Post, out of Boise and aiming for Oregon. Yawn.
5p After 260mi of my driving shift stopped for gas. attendant scared me, won’t lie. even new [knew] about the full-service coming in.
6.10p passed Multnomah Falls. still pretty tall.
6.25p officially enter Portland but bypass it for Vancouver.
Our stop at Sierra Trading Post took nearly an hour and I didn’t buy anything. This is unusual.
Just after entering Oregon, I84 drops in altitude like an elevator. After this bit of awesome, things are boring until finally reaching the Columbia River Gorge.
Later in the night, we stopped by a place I forget (Toxic?) for a band I don’t remember. It was a good show.
