Notes and photos from nearly two weeks on the road.
We’re off to the coast but first: a stop at University of Oregon – Eugene for a visit. Eugene is just a campus (like Madison) but it was a brilliant day. Fall in Oregon is hard to beat.
8.55a back into Portland to meet w/ Ashley for coffee. then down to Eugene.
9.30a stealing more Stumptown wifi. their bathroom key situation is intriguing. chained to duck decoys. not convenient. which is probably the point.
10p on the road again. as they say.

12p arrive @ U of O – Eugene. ton of fall colors, bikes and undergrads. the last is not a positive.
12.20p grub @ East Meets West.
2.20p “Free hugs” = loud dude; “Free herpes” = loud girl in bikini
more people want herpes. which is weird, college is messed up.
Eugene is nice—if you’re into that sort of thing. Madison graduates know what I’m talking about. You’re allowed to own chickens, so that’s something. It’s a quintessential campus complete with a boisterous, want-to-be Dane Cook asking for hugs.
3.15p back to the Jeep and off to the coast.
6.30p off to Walport after setting up camp and having a look @ the ocean. still stunning even on a cloudy day.
7p: @ the Flounders Inn Tavern. all you can eat beef ribs. quality beef ribs. but too many beef ribs.
8.40p Yankees still suck.
9p good times @ the Flounder. closing up, back to camp. sleep in T – 15min.
The beach was great despite being cloudy, with a mist that hid the shoreline in the distance. The Flounder Inn Tavern is a great place for a few drinks. We watched the Yankees again—which was unfortunate.
